In 1983, Power Services Company Limited (hereinafter called PSCL) was incorporated under the Jamaica Companies Act by Timothy Augustine Scarlett as Managing Director. In 1995, after eleven years of continuous research and gaining even more knowledge, he decided to bring PSCL into active operations. He resigned from his post as District Manager, Customer Service Regional Manager and Director at JPS Co. Ltd and assumed his ongoing role as Managing Director of PSCL. He attained space at Midway Mall, Caledonia Road, Mandeville, an area measuring approximately 20×40.
Timothy’s journey with PSCL wasn’t a walk in the park. PSCL encountered many obstacles. In late 1995, after its opening, Timothy struggled with purchasing the necessary office equipment. The September rains brought about additional setbacks, as the roof leaked so intensely that Mr. Scarlett had to bail water from the office daily. Being a natural leader and innovator, Mr. Scarlett was eventually able to triumph past these challenges, as in 1999, PSCL had seven staff members, a fleet of five-line trucks and two pick-ups. The company carried out various contracts, mainly pole line works with JPS Co. Ltd. With this steady growth, the company needed to expand its geographical location, resulting in a move to 66 Caledonia Road, Mandeville, and Manchester. Here, great memories were created.
Mr. Scarlett ensured that all the work completed by PSCL is not only done to the highest standards, but meets the safety standards as well. He brought vigour to the company’s safety motto – the safe way is the best way all the time! This motto is at the core of all aspects of the company’s operation. In 2001, the company relocated once more, to its now permanent home at 64 Caledonia Road, Mandeville, Manchester. This is where PSCL grew as an international enterprise. Presently, after twenty-four years of operating PSCL, Timothy continues to build the confidence of PSCL’s approximated 400 employees by training and upgrading facilities and fleet to a level that promotes productivity and efficiency. He is the driving force behind PSCL’s domination and strength in Jamaica’s engineering industry!
